Baxter Blasting Company began with the dedication and determination of a young man named M.J. Baxter. M.J., affectionately known to his friends and family, as Mickey, was working in the mining industry in Colorado when destiny brought him to California in 1942. Seeing the need for this growing industry in the San Diego area, Mickey started MJ Baxter Construction Company in 1946 and began working on pipelines, roads, tunneling and quarry projects. At that time, Mickey expanded the business to include drilling and blasting and formed the corporation now known as MJ Baxter Drilling Company. Mickey and his son, Mike worked diligently to provide excellent customer service and quality work. A few years later, the pipeline equipment was auctioned off in an effort to concentrate strictly on drilling and blasting, and the business continued to prosper. After the passing of Mickey in 1974 Mike Baxter became the owner of the company, and in 1980 MJ Baxter Drilling Company purchased 32 acres in Lakeside, California, where the business is still located today.
Mike Baxter continued to manage the business for the next 31 years, doing work in Southern California and Arizona. Mike sadly lost his fight with cancer in 2005 and at that time, his son-in- law, Glenn Inverso was named President of the company. To insure that MJ Baxter Drilling Company remains a well- respected and ethically run business, the dedicated team of employees has continued to be mindful of both Mickey and Mike’s wishes for the company.
What began as a vision so long ago, has now become one of San Diego’s finest companies.
On May 2, 2006, family, friends and employees of M. J. Baxter Drilling Company gathered at East County Pregnancy Care Center to dedicate a new ultra-sound machine purchased as a memorial to Mike Baxter. Since then the East County Pregnancy Care Center has used this high-tech machine to make a difference between life or death in young lives. The ultra-sound machine able to visually show women the new life inside them, freeing them to choose life over abortion. We hope you will consider helping the center to provide even more supplies that will support pregnant women to choose life.

We wanted to take a moment to honor some people who have been a huge part
of MJ Baxter Drilling Company, even though they are not with us anymore
they are with our heavenly Father.
We miss them but they are in a better place free of pain.
